Falcon earns podium position at championship track meet

The number three long jumper in New York State is a Falcon!

Congratulations to Samir Gardner, who placed third in the long jump at this weekend’s indoor track and field championship on Staten Island.

The jump that earned the junior the medal on Saturday was also a personal best, 22.5 feet.

Kudos, also, to Malachi Young! The senior placed 14th overall in the 55m hurdles.

The season continues for the two Albany High School student athletes next weekend at the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York City.

Both Gardner and Young placed first in the Section 2 qualifying meet on Feb. 10 at Hudson Valley Community College.
