Marching Falcons open statewide conference

Band leader directs two dozen musicians in conference hall foyer

The Albany Marching Falcons are getting gigs EVERYWHERE.

On Monday, a several members of the group and director Brian Cady opened the New York State Council of School Superintendents’ Winter Institute at Albany Capital Center.

Falcon musicians provided background music as attendees arrived. Group members also performed a lower-brass rendition of the “The Star-Spangled Banner” to kick off the formal conference program.

The Marching Falcons – its members make up the City School District of Albany’s marching ensemble – are the only U.S. band invited to France this June to perform at a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the World War II D-Day landing. In addition to performing on Omaha Beach, the band will perform concerts in Paris and Normandy

The group continues to raise money to support their trip. Want to donate to the cause? Visit ddayband.com.
