Congratulations to Albany High junior Alex Steuer for receiving an honorable mention at the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for their gorgeous 11x14" acrylic on canvas titled "Lemons."
Steuer was presented with this prestigious award by Congressman Paul Tonko at a lovely reception on Friday, May 2 hosted at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy!
Each spring, the Congressional Institute holds a nationwide art competition for high school students to recognize and encourage artistic talent across the U.S. Since 1982, over 650,000 students have participated!
This spring, schools from throughout the 20th congressional district submitted over thirty pieces of artwork to the competition, which were reviewed by a jury panel comprised of several guest curators and Joseph Mastroianni, Vice President of Programs at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy.
Currently studying Portfolio Development at Albany High, Steuer is a prolific and talented artist who also had two works selected for the 26th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition in March!
We are so proud of Steuer for earning this exceptional recognition, and we commend guiding teacher Kristine Monahan for being a wonderful support and inspiration!
