Technical problems related to Microsoft support have affected voter sign-in in Albany and surrounding school districts Tuesday morning, according to the software company that manages voting statewide.
NTS Data Services reported to area school districts that an insufficient level of support from Microsoft led to an inability for some voters to sign in digitally when arriving at their polling location. The City School District of Albany has asked voters to sign in on signature logs and all voters have had access to cast a ballot in Tuesday’s budget vote and Board of Education election.
NTS worked with Microsoft to resolve this problem as quickly as possible and the digital sign-in capability was fully functioning by about 11 a.m. Tuesday. We apologize for any inconvenience this technical problem may have caused for early voters.
A second and unrelated technical issue also affected voting machines at some Albany locations Tuesday morning. All voters were able to complete emergency ballots in those situations and all votes will be registered and counted. All voting machines also were fully functioning by late Tuesday morning.
