Anya Miller: the heart behind our 2025-26 blood drives

When it comes to living her best life, Albany High senior Anya Miller (pictured far right) is doing so by serving as the student coordinator for our 2025-26 blood drives hosted at Albany High!

Our first event took place on Friday, Sept. 26 and was a tremendous success, thanks to Miller's organization, professionalism and commitment to the cause.

Throughout the day, students, staff and community members came in to donate, including Miller's father. In total, our generous donors contributed 59 pints of blood, surpassing our event goal!

We are also excited to share that 10 Power Red donations were collected and 35 donors gave for the very first time. Furthermore, we proudly engaged a diverse donor base, with six pints coming from African American donors and 12 coming from Hispanic/Latino donors. The donations collected at Friday's event will potentially save 177 lives!

We extend our gratitude to Miller for her leadership and dedication to promoting this live-saving volunteer opportunity in our local community. Through her advocacy and volunteerism, she is earning scholarship money through the Red Cross.
