The City School District of Albany is seeking parents or guardians to serve on two district-wide committees: the Calendar Committee and the Professional Development Committee.

Calendar Committee

The purpose of this team is to discuss and propose a draft school calendar for 2026-27, which the Board of Education will consider this winter.

The Calendar Committee takes into account various factors that influence the school calendar, such as holidays, labor contracts and state regulations. The committee meets 1-3 times virtually. The committee's first meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 13 from noon-1 p.m.

If you are a parent or guardian in the district and are interested in joining the Calendar Committee, please submit a letter of interest by 5 p.m. on Jan. 5 to Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development Jennifer Houlihan at jhoulihan@albany.k12.ny.us. You also can call (518) 475-6060 with any additional questions.

Professional Development Committee

The purpose of this team is to engage in short- and long-term professional development planning for the district's employees.

The Professional Development Committee meets at least quarterly in some combination of in-person and virtual meetings. The committee's next meeting is in-person on Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 4-5:30 p.m. at Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center, 75 Watervliet Ave.
