Albany High held its second blood drive of the year on January 28, right after a massive winter storm that affected blood donation supplies locally and nationwide.
Thanks to the leadership and dedication of student blood drive coordinator, Anya Miller, we surpassed our donation goal for the event! A total of 59 units of blood were collected, including five Power Red donations, each producing two units of blood. Miller was assisted by Lyra Stetzer, who will assume the role of student coordinator next year.
It was heartwarming to see community members, parents, students and 17 Albany High staff members roll up their sleeves to donate. A special thanks to Board of Education President Sridar Chittur, Ph.D. and Innovation Academy Principal, Richard Shea, for their contributions.
We are grateful to our blood drive club advisor, Alicia Abdul, who works tirelessly year-round to ensure our donation events run smoothly and effectively.
Be sure to visit our Facebook album to see photos from the event, and mark your calendars for our next blood drive on Wednesday, June 3!
