Albany High’s FIRST Robotics Team #1493 delivered an excellent performance throughout the competition weekend at the Tech Valley Regional April 16-18!
Despite facing a challenging preliminary schedule against some of the top teams at the event, our Falcons remained competitive and resilient.
Their efforts were recognized when they were selected as the first pick for Alliance 6, highlighting the team’s capabilities beyond what their record alone reflected. During the playoff rounds, Team #1493 posted the third-highest score of the event—however, they were narrowly defeated by an alliance that achieved an even higher score.
On Saturday during their final playoff match, the team adapted quickly after experiencing an equipment issue with their intake system, shifting their strategy to defense.
While our Falcons were ultimately unable to advance, their ability to adjust under pressure demonstrated strong teamwork and problem-solving. Our Falcons ended the competition ranked seventeenth in the state.
Although this was the team’s only official competition this season, Team #1493 is exploring opportunities to participate in offseason events to continue building on their success.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our club advisors Kevin Allen, Brent Cady, Andre Castagna and Rich Kissane, as well as our Falcon fans who came to cheer on our team at the competition.
