Students from Albany High's Best Buddies club planted bulbs last fall in our front landscaping at Albany High and in the formal gardens at the historic Washington Park, and now they are in full bloom!
Working alongside City Gardener Jena DiTonno, Assistant City Gardener Sarah Cameron and their dedicated gardening crew from the Department of General Services was a true delight for our students. Not only did they learn valuable skills about cultivating bulb plants such as tulips and hyacinths, they also were introduced to potential career pathways available in the City of Albany.
Enjoy these "before and after" photos of the planting process, and if you visit the formal gardens in Washington Park, be sure to admire the flowers in beds 26 and 27 planted by our very own Falcon gardeners!
Thank you to our guiding staff and teachers Chrislene Adams, JoAnnie Dickson, Teresa Giglio, Donna Cunningham and Joey DiPiazza for helping make enriching experiences like this possible for our students.
