Twenty-one Albany High cosmetology students were honored at a heartfelt sashing ceremony on Tuesday to recognize their incredible dedication to their coursework in our Career and Technical Education program.
The event included a delicious meal prepared by caterer Harriet Webster, as well as messages of encouragement from our cosmetology faculty members LaQuita Love, Yvonne Walters, George "Cory" Nardin and Donald Hyman who have worked with our students as teachers and/or club advisers.
Each senior received a letter they had written to their future selves at the onset of their cosmetology coursework, as well as a beautiful pearl necklace. To finish the ceremony, Principal Jodi Commerford bestowed each Falcon with a cosmetology sash that will be worn at graduation on June 28.
Our graduating seniors are:
Aimee Ayoub Arias • Kyla Boyd • Jadé Breland • Madeline Bulgaro • Levareona Cade • Mel'Lani Campbell • Jillian Colley • Jae'lyn Crawford • Princess Crawford • Jacob Gardner • Azarya Gray • Reign Hannah • Teja Hoke • Joliyah Johnson • Antoiniyah Lumpkin-Spence • Adison Miller • Olivia Mitchell • Rayniah Pounds • Naje' Robinson • Faria Tanha • Ava Watson
Many of our seniors have already completed the 1000 clinical hours required to obtain their cosmetology license, and others plan to complete their hours during our summer cosmetology clinical program here at Albany High or at one of our participating post-secondary cosmetology school partners.
Congratulations, Falcons! We are very proud of all you have accomplished here at Albany High and know your expertise, professionalism and love of the beauty industry will serve you well as you enter this exciting new season of your lives!
