Orientation reminders

The following message is from Principal Rachel Stead:

Dear Families:

We are excited to welcome students and families back to school starting with orientation on Thursday (tomorrow) and Friday!

ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

  • Thursday orientation
    • Pre-K and kindergarten, assigned times
    • Parents and guardians may attend, must wear masks and will have their temperatures taken upon entry.
    • Grades 1-2, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (no school for grades 3-5)
    • Grades 6-8, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (no school for grades 6-12)
    • Students with last names A-L in Anziano, Harris, Yanson and Gaines classes, 8:30-3:15 p.m.
  • Friday orientation
    • Pre-K and kindergarten, assigned times
    • Parents and guardians may attend, must wear masks and will have their temperatures taken upon entry.
    • Grades 3-5, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (no school for grades 1-2)
    • Grades 9-12, 8:30-3:30 (no school for grades 6-8)
    • Students with last names M-Z in Anziano, Harris, Yanson and Gaines classes, 8:30-3:15 p.m.

DROP-OFF AND PICKUP FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS DRIVING STUDENTS TO SCHOOL

  • Drop-off
    • Prekindergarten, Second Street entrance, 9 a.m.
    • Kindergarten-grade 5, 8:50 a.m. at Lark Street entrance
    • Grades 6-12, 8:25 a.m. at Third Street entrance
  • Pickup
    • Prekindergarten, Second Street entrance, 3:15 p.m.
    • Kindergarten-grade 5, alley behind school, 3:30 p.m. Teachers will escort their classes to the sidewalk behind the building and the street will be cordoned off with barriers and closed to traffic. Parents should park on streets near the school and walk to the alley to pick up their children from the teacher.
    • Grades 6-12, Third Street, 3:30 p.m.

BUSES (all students riding buses must wear a mask)

  • Prekindergarten – There is no bus transportation.
  • Kindergarten-grade 5 and special education students – You should have received a bus schedule with bus stop information and times. If you did not, please contact the school district’s Transportation Department at (518) 475-6170.
  • Grades 6-12 – CDTA tripper buses that serve AIC are designated route #804. Get a schedule here. Tripper service for AIC will begin this Thursday. Students also may access regular CDTA routes for the orientation days and throughout the school year. All students – eligible or not – can ride CDTA to and from school for free and without a pass through Friday, Sept. 17. After that grace period, only eligible students with activated student IDs/swipers will be able to ride for free.

Please remember that students must wear a mask in school each day. Also, staff will take every student’s temperature each day as they arrive at school.
