Get COVID-19 test kits starting Tuesday

COVID-19 home test pickup

Starting Tuesday, Edmund J. O'Neal School of Excellence will distribute COVID-19 home test kits to parents and guardians of students who did not yet receive them.

Parents and guardians can pick up the kits at the Third Street (Community Center) entrance closest to the gym. A parent or guardian must pick up the kit or kits, and all are reminded to wear face masks.

Parents and guardians will be asked for their student's name, grade and date of birth. The school will provide one kit for each student, and each kit contains two tests. 

Tuesday, Jan. 4

  • 3-6 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 5

  • 9-10 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 6

  • 3-6 p.m.

Instructions for testing

  • Please use one test the morning after you pick up the test kit, prior to sending your child to school. Read the directions included in the test kit completely prior to using the test.
  • The test will take a little more than 10 minutes to complete. Please plan accordingly.
  • Please note that test results should be read at 10 minutes, and not later than 15 minutes. 
  • If your child tests positive (+), please do the following:
    • Keep your child home from school;
    • Take a photo of the positive test and the test kit;
    • Report the positive case to the Albany County Department of Health, using this link;
    • Notify the school nurse, via email if possible, at kvincent@albany.k12.ny.us
