Getting to know our firefighters

Smiling student holds fire hose

We LOVE our community partners in the Albany Fire Department!

On Friday, firefighters and a truck from Engine 2 came down Lark Street to Albany International Academy and spent time with each class of the elementary Newcomer Summer School. They told the students – all in the beginning stages of learning English – about what firefighters do to help people and keep them safe.

Visit our Facebook page to see photos from the visit.

Big shoutout to our translators, who pitched in to help with questions and the technical terms! Next week, middle and high school students will walk up the street to Engine 2 for a similar lesson.

p.s. Yes, the fire hose is heavy!
