Getting smart about voting, Census 2020

Stickers that say 'I Will Vote ... 11.3.20'

Albany High School students learned about voting and politics Thursday during POWERUP 2020, a movement to register people 18 and older to vote and preregister people as young as 16 to vote.

Students also received lessons about Census 2020, the importance of an accurate census count and potential jobs available as the count gets underway.

Some 20 upper-level social studies classes took part in the activities throughout the day. A huge thanks to our community partners for their efforts: Volunteers from the League of Women Voters of Albany County for voter registration sign-ups and staffers from Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan's office for census info.
