Commencement ceremonies for the Albany High School Class of 2020 will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

For health and safety reasons, Graduation 2020 will consist of:

  • A prerecorded ceremony featuring speeches by our valedictorian, salutatorian, class president and others. The ceremony will be released for viewing at 8 a.m. on Saturday on the school district website at albanyschools.org and Facebook @AlbanyHighFalcons. The prerecorded ceremony will continue to be available.
  • A series of outdoor, in-person graduation ceremonies where students will cross the stage and receive their diplomas on either Saturday, June 27 or Sunday, June 28 on the Albany High football field. Each day's ceremonies began at 9 a.m. The events will be smaller and organized by academy: Citizenship, Discovery, Innovation and Leadership. Seniors should have received a letter indicating what time and day to report. Any student that did not receive a letter should call the school at (518) 475-6200 and leave a message.

Outdoor ceremony

Seniors must wear their caps and gowns to the outdoor ceremony.

Each senior will be allowed to bring two guests. We remind seniors and guests to observe proper social distancing by wearing face masks and staying six feet apart from other family groups. We will provide a face mask to any person not wearing one.

Seniors and their guests should arrive at the assigned time. Those who are driving should plan to park in the rear parking lot (the entrance is off North Main Street), and then proceed to the football field. School staff will be on hand to guide you. Please wear comfortable footwear, as the walk from the parking lot to the athletic field is a bit of a distance. Also, please note that there will be no bathrooms available.

Students and guests will be lined up in alphabetical order on the football field. Each group will proceed to the stage, where students will receive their diplomas and then exit the football field.

We look forward to celebrating with students and families this weekend!
