Elijah Temple is heading to the state track and field championships this weekend after winning the 400-meter hurdles at the Section 2 state qualifiers last week.
Temple, a sophomore, won the event in a time of 56.56 seconds. He'll compete in the Division 1 large-school division at the state meet this Friday at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. A spot in the top eight will earn him a place in Saturday's federation meet, which combines the top performers from the Division I, Division 2 and New York City Division.
