Student and teacher pose before wall of homemade ornaments

‘Tis the season for locally sourced, handmade holiday ornaments!

On Wednesday, students in Erica Cubello’s art classes at Albany High School sold pinecone ornaments to their classmates and others looking for beautifully decorated holiday baubles.

Cubello and her students recently found the pinecones on a walk through the neighborhood, and they brought them back to school and made them into works of art. A bonus – all ornaments purchased were festively wrapped.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward a field trip they hope to take to MASSMoCA this spring. If you missed the sale but want to donate, email Cubello at ecubello@albany.k12.ny.us. The student artists will be selling other works through the year, so stay tuned!
