Hands-on history!

A student studies the wallet from a WW1 soldier.

On Friday, students in Jenna Stanzione-Griffin’s AP U.S. History class explored WW1 artifacts collected by co-teacher Joe Alteri’s great grandfather during the Great War.

The items - which ranged from helmets and gas masks to canteens and military badges – were mostly collected in France between 1917-1918.

A short lesson about the items was followed by an exploration (which in some cases included trying them on!) and then the class completed questions about the antiquities.
