On Tuesday, students in Vincent Kemp's Automotive Technologies I and Automotive Technologies II classes had the opportunity to learn about the evolving landscape of the automotive auction industry from guest speaker, Chris Cushing.
Cushing is a key member of the curation team of Bring A Trailer, an incredibly successful global automotive auction house. He is responsible for selecting cars for auction, collaborating with sellers to craft compelling listings and determining appropriate reserve prices to maximize the likelihood of sales.
In addition to Cushing's fascinating presentation, students participated in an interactive learning session focused on two Porsche vehicles: a 944 and a 997. They assessed the differences between the suspension systems of the two models and also had the opportunity to perform work on the control arms and tie rods of the 997 model.
Our Falcons enjoyed learning about one of the many opportunities within the automotive sector that extend beyond conventional jobs focused on hands-on mechanic work—and of course it was amazing to get up close and personal with two models from an iconic brand!
A big shout-out to Albany High teacher Vincent Kemp for making this dynamic learning session possible.
