On Tuesday, Albany High School's boys' varsity soccer team kept fans on the edge of their seats in a captivating Suburban Council matchup with Niskayuna at The Nest that finished in a 1-1 tie.

The first half ended scoreless, with both teams presenting a formidable threat in attack. The Falcons emerged from halftime pressing for the go-ahead goal, but several quality defensive plays and outstanding goalkeeping for Niskayuna thwarted their efforts.

The Silver Warriors took a 1-0 lead with 28:30 left in the second half with a goal on the counter against the run of play. The Falcons continued to press for the equalizer until junior Zubair Yunus made the crowd go wild with an incredible Olimpico, a goal scored directly from a corner kick, with 4:33 remaining!

Falcons goalkeeper Evan Bermejo showcased his skills with several key stops throughout the game, while Meshaki Lubila, Thierry Nkurunziza and Adam Rouse consistently posed attacking threats.

Join us to support our Falcons (1-1-2 overall, 1-0-2 Suburban Council) at their next home game on Tuesday, Sept. 16 against Shaker, the three-time defending Section 2 champions. Game time is 6:15 p.m.
