Congratulations to Albany High teacher, Amie Chermack, for being selected as a recipient of the Educator of Excellence award by the New York State English Council (NYSEC)!
With 26 years of experience in the City School District of Albany, Chermack is passionate about education. She has taught here at Albany High for 11 years and is thrilled to be teaching two English 12 courses, Literacy as Liberation and Creative Writing for the 2025-26 academic year.
"I enjoy sharing great literature with my students and creating a space where students feel comfortable writing creative pieces and sharing their writing with others," Chermack reflects.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Chermack serves as a club advisor for Inkblot, which gives students the opportunity to grow their skills as creative writers. She looks forward to helping channel student work from her creative writing class into the magazine produced by the Inkblot club each year!
On Friday, Oct. 24, Chermack will be honored at this year's NYSEC Conference for her excellence in teaching.
We are incredibly grateful to have Chermack guiding and inspiring our Falcons each day, and we applaud her for this well-deserved recognition!
