Falcons show grit in Section 2 playoffs

Basketball season came to an end this week for the Albany High School boys’ and girls’ teams.

The boys’ battled Shenendehowa down to the wire in Sunday’s Section 2 Class AAA quarterfinals at Hudson Valley Community College, dropping a 65-62 outcome.

Sincere Allah led the Falcons with 28 points, including several clutch 3-pointers throughout the game. Rasahn Johnson added 15 points and was a defensive force inside. Juan George and James Campbell also pressured the Shen guards into several key turnovers that turned into important points for the Falcons in transition.

The girls’ team ran into one of the top Class AAA teams in the state in Tuesday’s semifinal matchup with Shaker at Hudson Valley. The Falcons played hard throughout the game but fell 67-40.

Janae Byrams led Albany High with 12 points.
