The City School District of Albany will take the following precautions Wednesday to limit outdoor activities because of the air-quality concerns affecting the Capital Region and much of New York state due to wildfires in Canada.

  • All physical education classes will remain inside Wednesday, and recess activities also will remain inside.
  • All field trips including strenuous activity such as running, climbing or long walks will be postponed and rescheduled. Field trips that do not require strenuous activity are allowed to continue with masks as an option.
  • Participation in the Just Run program after school is canceled for those schools that were scheduled to take part in that event Wednesday.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has extended air-quality health advisories until late Wednesday night.
