Student username change

The student username change is complete. Students must now use their new username to log into district systems.

The new username sequence is based on the following elements:

  • Last 3 digits of Student ID, day of birth (2 digits), first letter of first name, first two letters of last name and default ending zero (0) unless the first eight characters are duplicative, which would result in a default ending of 1 or 2, etc.
  • Example username for Test Student, with student ID 123964 and birthday of June 5, 2013: 96405tst0

As part of the change, each student’s district email address also will change.

This change is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and secure physical and digital environment, the City School District of Albany has changed the district username for all students.

This is a significant initiative, enabling us to more fully protect sensitive student information. While this change will require students of all ages to become familiar with a new login for all use of district devices and network resources, we have many supports in place to assist this transition across the district.
As with all other aspects of your child’s education, the awareness and support of parents and guardians will be critical in helping your student succeed.

Your support of this effort to enhance student privacy and overall cybersecurity is very much appreciated. If you have any additional questions regarding the changeover, you or your student can contact your building administrators.
