COVID-19 updates for January

The City School District of Albany is planning a full return to in-person instruction as scheduled after the holiday break, and also will begin distributing COVID-19 test kits next week.

New York is providing test kits to schools statewide to help maintain healthy and safe in-person learning environments in spite of the current spike in COVID-19 cases due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

The state has said it plans to distribute test kits to districts later this week or over the weekend. At this time, our district is planning to resume in-person instruction Monday. We will develop plans to distribute test kits to families and employees next week depending on when the state delivers the test kits to our district.

Pre-register for COVID-19 testing at school

The district also is developing plans for expanded building-based COVID-19 testing in the new year. Please remember that pre-registration is required for testing; you can use this link to register if you have not done so already.

Health and safety guidance from both the state and the Albany County Health Department continues to evolve. As always, as new guidance or information related to COVID-19 becomes available to us, we will keep you updated.
