A familiar face is returning to a familiar position in the City School District of Albany.

The Board of Education appointed Lawrence Moultrie to the position of assistant principal at William S. Hackett Middle School. Moultrie, who will begin Sept. 12, replaces April Stokes and joins the Hackett administrative team of Principal Michael Paolino and Assistant Principal Lisa House.

Moultrie served as a Hackett assistant principal from 2015-19, and then as the Albany High School Leadership Academy principal in 2019-20 before moving to an assistant principal position at Ballston Spa High School in 2020. He returns to Albany directly from the Schenectady City School District, where he has served as an assistant principal at Mont Pleasant Middle School.

Prior to his career as an administrator, Moultrie was a history teacher in the district for 10 years, and also later served as an assistant principal at the elementary level in the Rome City School District before returning to the administrative team at Hackett in 2015.

He holds a bachelor's degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and master's degrees from the University at Albany and The College of St. Rose.

Welcome (back) Assistant Principal Moultrie!
