Return of the STEMinistas!

Two students create a DNA bracelet during summer enrichment.

The future (of science) is female!

Week 1 of the district’s STEMinista camp found the middle school girls exploring, examining, experimenting and enriching their knowledge of science and math through hands-on and fun labs and projects.

Led by William S. Hackett Middle School science teacher Allison Griner and Stephen and Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School teacher Beth Cino, the scholars participated in a range of activities including the construction of a unique-to-them DNA code bracelet on Thursday and a field trip to the Radix Center on Wednesday.

There are limited spots available for Session 2 next week. It runs Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Albany High School and lunch and breakfast are included. Please email apowers@albany.k12.ny.us by 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11 to register a girl entering grades 7-8 at Hackett, Myers or North Albany Middle School.
