Santa school resource officer delivers

Student and school resource officer survey gifts displayed on a table

Part Santa, part school resource officer!

Officer Nicole Reddix of the Albany Police Department opened her annual holiday store Tuesday at William S. Hackett Middle School, and students bought gifts for family and friends using tickets they’d earned by doing a great job participating in class and meeting schoolwide behavior expectations.

Students in Hollie Grignon, Kelly MacNabb, Nikky Messere, Cindy Moorcroft, Stephanie Resila and Sidra Stephens’ classes chose then wrapped their gifts with guidance and occasional assistance from Reddix. The store also will be open on Wednesday for students from those classes who didn’t get a chance to shop on Tuesday.

Each year, Reddix coordinates donations to the store and oversees student shopping.

Check out a Facebook photo album of some of Tuesday’s shoppers. (You don't need a Facebook account to see the photos linked in the highlighted text. A window may appear that says, "To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log on or create an account,” but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)
