Weekly update from Principal Paolino

Good Morning and Happy Spring!

Welcome back to school!  I hope everyone enjoyed the break and had an opportunity to relax a little. Only a few short months of the school year remain, and they will be challenging to say the least! New York State English Language Arts (ELA) testing will begin on Tuesday, April 23, followed by Math on May 7 and Science on May 14. See the complete chart below.

We completed our last week of school before break easily and quietly, as it was also a short week due to the Friday holiday. Daily lessons and learning activities continued to be relevant and rigorous while teachers assessed the learning of their students. Mid-way through the week, we were treated to the final All-City concert of the school year by the superb All-City Band at Albany High School! I simply cannot say enough good things about the band, the music program and our talented students.  Each year in March, I am beyond impressed and in awe of the different performances and skill level of these gifted young adults! Kudos to you, and I look forward to next year!

As a reminder, we will dismiss today at 12:45 p.m. due to the solar eclipse that will occur at approximately 3:30 p.m.  Also, there will be no school this Wednesday, April 10, in celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

Please remind your children to finish the semester strong, maintain their self-confidence and be proactive in assuring their assignments are completed and handed in on time. The third quarter ends on Friday, April 19.

... and that was the week that was!
