Good afternoon! I hope you had a relaxing weekend. It is hard to believe that there are only two-plus weeks remaining in the current school year.
Our primary goals for the week ahead will be the administration of the Living Environment Regents this Tuesday – tomorrow – as well as the continued administration of the Spring NWEA math assessments. Good luck to all our test-taking students!
This week we also will conclude visits from Albany elementary school students who attend Hackett this September. our elementary school visits. We look forward to welcoming our soon-to-be sixth-graders in September!
Performances of "Beetlejuice Jr." continue this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. here at Hackett. In addition to our Hackett students, cast and crew in the Fallen Chandelier Production are from Albany School of Humanities (ASH), New Scotland Elementary School, Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School and Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST) as well as other school districts. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students. You can buy tickets at the door or online. For more information, email Fachastage@gmail.com. And on Friday, our students will enjoy a free performance in the afternoon!
To celebrate our amazing modified sports athletes, our district Athletics Department will hold a Middle School Athletics Celebration at Albany High School on Tuesday, June 17 from 4-5:30 p.m. If your child participated in modified sports during the 2024-25 year, they are invited to join us! This event will be held in the Albany High stadium and is for student-athletes only. Student IDs must be presented at the gate. Pizza, drinks, games and activities will be provided free of charge! We've assigned the following dates for locker cleanouts, where students have an opportunity to return school items and take home personal items.
- Monday, June 16 – Grade 7, periods 1 and 4
- Tuesday, June 17 – Grade 6, period 2, period 6, and, if necessary, period 8
- Friday, June 20 – Grade 8, periods 1 and 5, and, if necessary, period 8.
Field trip schedule update: All three grades will be participating in a two-hour scenic boat ride up the Hudson River via the Dutch Apple Cruise. Due to student interest, field trips for each specific grade level have been reduced to one day. Please note the new dates below. Permission slips were sent home last week. The field trip is free to all students and incudes two slices of pizza and a drink. Students are encouraged to bring extra spending cash if they wish to purchase additional food items. Students must return a signed permission form to participate in this event.
This week's Friday Fun Day theme is yet to be determined. Students should stay tuned for more information!

As a final note, Hackett Middle School continues its Fire Drill Emergency Response Procedures. Holding practice fire drills, as well as lockdown drills, is crucial to our overall emergency planning and we will continue through the final weeks of school.

- The Living Environment Regents will take place this Tuesday (tomorrow).
- The field trip for seventh-graders will take place this Thursday.
- The field trip for sixth-graders will take place on Tuesday, June 17.
- The Algebra Regents will take place on Wednesday, June 18.
- There will be no school on Thursday, June 19 as we celebrate Juneteenth.
- The field trips for eighth-graders will take place on Tuesday, June 24.
- Thursday, June 26 will be the last day of the 2024-25 school year. We will have a full day of school, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
- A reminder that speed cameras are up and running on Delaware Avenue and many other school zones throughout Albany. Fines of $50 are being imposed on drivers exceeding the 20-mph school zone speed limit. Please drive safely and avoid these fines by being mindful of the school zones on your daily route.
