Weekly update from Principal Paolino

NEWS

Congratulations to two teams of Hackett student scientists who placed at last week's University at Albany science fair - keep questioning the world around you!

Boys and girls in grades 7-8 who are interested in tennis should consider signing up for a modified team currently practicing at Albany High School. There are still spots for more student-athletes, please contact aomoragbon@albany.k12.ny.us with any questions.

Create custom pages for the 2025-26 year book! Orders must be made online using this link. The code for Hackett is 1016488352114359.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, May 19) is the City School District of Albany's budget vote and Board of Education election. Details can be found here.

NWEA Spring Math Assessments will take place on Wednesday, May 20. ENL students requiring a translator will be tested on Friday.

Elementary schools will visit Hackett beginning Thursday and continuing through Friday, May 29. As part of the elementary-to-middle-school transition plan, students will tour the building and participate in a presentation given by the school counselors and building administrators.

Eighth-grade end-of-year field trips will be taking place this week with Team 8A participating on May 22 and Team 8B participating on May 21.

This Friday is our Fun Day with a Video Game/Movie Character theme.

There will be no school next Monday (May 25) in observance of Memorial Day and Tuesday (May 26) to account for our one unused snow day from this school year. We honor and thank all those who serve, and have served, our country.

If your student-athlete is on the modified track team, Albany High School's Booster Club needs your help! Concession stand sign-ups are open for an upcoming modified track meet at Albany High this Thursday. Even if your child is not on the track team, this is a GREAT way to get involved at Albany High - the booster club supports extracurriculars from music and theater, sports and clubs, art, JROTC and more! Please note that to sign up for a volunteer slot you do have to make an account, but you do not have to become a sponsor.

Save the date! Albany High invites all rising ninth-graders to a Spring Open House on May 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. Register to attend today!

Registration for the City School District of Albany's free Summer Arts Program is open through June 5. Students in grades 3-11 are eligible to sign up for the four-week program (July 6-31) for art, theater, dance, band and orchestra.

Details for the June 16 modified sports celebration are now available. Mark your calendars and get ready for a fun event recognizing Junior Falcon growth and success!
