Amazing Autism Spectrum Fair at Montessori gets better every year

On Tuesday evening, Montessori Magnet School (MMS) opened its doors to families throughout the district and we are incredibly proud of the experience they received.

The 2023 Autism Spectrum Fair included something (actually a lot) for everyone – activities, vendors, therapy pets, sensory projects, community partners, food, information about local available services, education for families and much, much more! But, most importantly, the event provided a quality event to some of our most vulnerable children in a kind, caring, supportive and FUN environment.

The team responsible for the success - led by a true champion for children, MMS school social worker Sue Hodom - was comprised of general ed staff, special ed staff, interns, volunteers and a wide variety of district staff. Thank you, everyone!

“When you give your free time in service to students who rely on us most, it speaks volumes about your commitment to our craft. It also speaks volumes about you as a member of our school community,” said Montessori Magnet School principal John Powell.

The work that went into making this event a reality has been ongoing for months and planning for the fourth annual (minus 2020 due to COVID) Autism Spectrum Fair in 2024 is already underway!
