Hands on science is the best kind of science!

Science teacher Gary Nowik helps a student with a lab in class.

There is absolutely no running in the hallway at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School - unless it’s in the name of science!

Gary Nowik’s sixth-grade classes are learning how heart rate changes with exercise. Students first measured their resting heart rate and compared it to their BPM (beats per minute) after a couple laps.

The Nov. 26 experiment was part of the young scientists’ unit on the Cardiovascular System.
