Lunch protocols changing

The following is an important message from Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School Principal William Rivers:

Due to a change in the seasons, our administrative team made the decision to eliminate the outdoor lunch option that our students could participate in earlier this fall.

Beginning Friday (Dec. 3), seventh and eighth graders will shift to classrooms for their lunch period. For seventh graders this will be the classroom they are in for period 7 and for eighth graders it will be the classroom they are in for period 6.

As is the case throughout our building, masks will be required when not actively eating and a distance of 3-6 feet enforced where possible. When at least 3 feet is not possible, there are plastic dividers separating the students.

Due to lower enrollment, sixth-grade students will continue eating in the cafeteria.

This change will be communicated to students during homeroom on Thursday and again on Friday.

Thank you very much for your support. The health and safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. If you have any questions, please email wrivers@albany.k12.ny.us.
