Update from Principal Rivers

The following is an important message from Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School Principal William Rivers:

I'm writing to pass along important academic updates that will help you to support your student for the remainder of this school year.

  • Google Classroom: To review your student's work on Google Classroom, please check out this Google Classroom link and this Parents Guide to Google Classroom for more information.
  • SchoolTool: SchoolTool reflects a teacher's gradebook in real time. To see assignments (both digital and paper), date assigned, date due, possible points and actual grade, please review this SchoolTool Access for Parents document. You can also ask your child to open their SchoolTool account and go to the Assignments page.
  • Grade 9 course requests: Please review the 2023-24 Albany High School course sheet in advance of your student's upcoming meeting with their counselor to discuss next year's course selections. Please also check out the Albany High School course offerings webpage with your student for more specific information. School Counselors will begin meeting with our current eighth graders during the next two months to finalize initial course requests.
  • Parent/teacher conferences: Parent/teacher conferences will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 and again from noon-3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10. Your child's team will reach out to schedule a meeting if your child's attendance is below 90% and your child is failing 2 or more core classes. If your child does not fall into these prioritized categories, you may still reach out to one or more of your child's teachers - or your child's school counselor - with specific questions or to schedule a formal team meeting.

We appreciate your continued collaboration and dialogue around supporting each and every one of our Junior Falcons!
