Myers welcomes movement honoring school's namesakes

A statue honoring abolitionists and the Underground Railroad visits Myers.

On Tuesday, historian Anthony Cohen and the Freedom Walkers team visited Myers with the "Journey to Freedom" Harriet Tubman statue.

Speaking to students, Cohen shared insights from Freedom Walk 2026, a monumental journey he is currently leading from May 4 through July 4 that retraces the historic Underground Railroad route from Maryland to Canada.

Our school, which is named after prominent Black abolitionists and key leaders of the Underground Railroad in Albany, was proud to host such an important event.
