Fall planting of spring flowers.

Boy student and female teacher dig a hole together

New Scotland Elementary will have hundreds of beautiful flowers surrounding the trees in front of the school come spring, thanks to the Vegetable Project and plenty of student muscle.

On Thursday, students from Jen Pratt’s kindergarten/first grade class, Dawn Abrams’ second grade class, Kristen Clancy’s second/third grade class and Colleen Ryan’s fourth/fifth grade class dug holes and planted daffodil and tulip bulbs in them. Student efforts were guided by Bill Stoneman of the Vegetable Project and a host of other adults.

See the group in action in this Facebook photo album. (You don’t need a Facebook account to see the photos; A window may appear that says, "To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log on or create an account,” but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)

We love our community partners! Thank you, Vegetable Project and others who helped make Thursday’s planting possible.
