Superhero super-readers!

Three students and an adult, all dressed as Wonder Woman, pose together

New Scotland Elementary School super-readers in kindergarten through second grade donned their real and imaginary capes on Friday and attended a Superhero Academy led by our amazing community partners at The RED Bookshelf.

All New Scotland students received the gift of a book before the holiday recess. They had the chance to read it over vacation and write a review of it, and the school celebrated those who did with Friday’s Superhero Academy.

During Superhero Academy, RED Bookshelf volunteers including Captain America and Spiderman led students in saying the superhero pledge, where reciters affirm that they are here to use their powers and work together to help others, be mindful and make smart choices.

The adult superheroes also helped students complete their own superhero profile complete with their hero name, powers and statistics.

Next Friday, super-readers in grades 3-5 will have their own Superhero Academy.
