News & Updates

Morning Commute

To ensure the safety and efficiency of our arrival procedures, we would like to remind everyone of our established morning traffic guidelines.

Our drop-off lane is designed as a "drop and go" zone. To keep traffic flowing smoothly and safely, please follow these important procedures.

  • Students should be ready to exit independently, with their belongings gathered and prepared to get out of the car without assistance.
  • Parents should remain in their vehicles at all times, as exiting your car significantly slows traffic flow and creates congestion on New Scotland Avenue.
  • Please pay close attention to our signage and only release students in the marked drop-off zone. Our signs specifically tell you where to drop off and where to remain in your car.
  •  If your child requires extra assistance during arrival, park your car in a space around the school and walk them into the school.

We understand that waiting in line before reaching the drop-off zone may feel inconvenient. However, this practice significantly improves traffic flow on New Scotland Avenue and allows us to accommodate more vehicles safely during peak arrival times.

We ask that all families treat our staff with courtesy and respect during morning drop-off. If you find the drop-off process frustrating, we encourage you to take advantage of our parking and walking option instead.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our school community safe and welcoming.

Bring Your Art Game — A Celebration of Belonging, Diversity and Inclusion

We are excited to invite you to a special celebration of our school community! Building on our Bring Your “A” Game theme, we are launching Bring Your Art Game—an exhibition of student and staff artwork that honors the belonging, diversity, and inclusion that make our school community unique.

This is an open invitation for all students and staff members to participate by sharing their artistic work. Whether your child creates paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, digital art or any other creative medium, we encourage them to submit a piece that reflects what belonging, diversity, and inclusion means to them.

More details about submission requirements and how to participate will be sent home next week.

The event will be held on April 30 from 5-6:30 p.m.

School-wide Assembly

As part of our Black History Month celebration, students explored the theme “Teams,” inspired by our school wide focus, Bring Your “A” Game. Throughout the month, classes learned about influential Black teams and organizations and the values of teamwork, perseverance, empathy, and excellence.

Our celebration will culminate on March 23 with a special assembly featuring Tay Fischer of the Harlem Globetrotters, who will share a motivational message about teamwork, empathy, and standing up against bullying.

This event is made possible through a grant from the Albany Fund for Education.
