HVAC update

The following is an important message from Principal Tia Corniel:

I’m writing to update you on the HVAC issues our building has been experiencing this school year.

The air conditioning is not working in many of our classrooms and office spaces. The City School District of Albany’s contractor was on-site Thursday and determined that a malfunctioning pump was preventing the distribution of cold air. The contractor repaired the pump and there is improvement in some sections of the building, but not everywhere.

The contractor returned to the building later in the day Thursday to continue to evaluate the situation, but reports delays based on schedule demands and availability of replacement parts.

In the meantime, windows are open throughout the building and some of our classrooms are using fans. We have requested additional fans from the district’s Maintenance and Operations Department.

We are doing everything in our power to ensure the system is fixed as quickly as possible, and we apologize for the inconvenience these HVAC problems are causing. As always, if you have any additional questions, you can reach me at tcorniel@albany.k12.ny.us or (518) 475-6725.
