IMPORTANT: updated drop-off and pick-up protocols

The following is a message from Principal Tia Corniel:

I hope that the New Year finds you and your family in good health. We plan to return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, Jan. 18 and the information below is a review of important drop-off and pick-up protocols that are intended to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

When dropping off in the morning, it is absolutely imperative that there are no personal vehicles - driving or parked - in the school bus loop in front of our building. Additionally, please do not double park on North Allen Street or Hudson Avenue as it blocks through traffic and creates a hazard. It is acceptable to use any open parking spot on North Allen Street or Hudson Avenue.

I have discussed the traffic patterns and these guidelines with the Albany Police Department but it is up to each and every one of us to maintain safety at school, especially during drop-off and pick-up. To assist with a smooth transition back to in-person learning next week, representatives from the City of Albany’s Parking Enforcement Department, along with Albany police, will be present to assist with traffic management.

Please reach out to me directly (tcorniel@albany.k12.ny.us or 518.475.6725) with any questions about our traffic patterns. We are actively working to address the concerns that have already been voiced by our school community and we want to ensure that arrival and drop off run as smoothly and as safely as possible.

Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.
