Fourth grade had a squrimy day!

A student examines a mealworm with a magnifying glass.

Our fourth graders can add the title Junior Entomologist to their resumes!

As part of the Full Option Science System (FOSS) curriculum, the student-scientists are learning about the lifecycle of mealworms (which aren’t really worms at all – they’re the larval form of a beetle).

Part 1 of the lab, conducted Friday in Justin Gallo’s class, included observing and recording facts about the critters. The project will continue for several weeks and then the adult beetles will be released.
