Walk to School Day

Our community partners care about keeping our kids safe!

Wednesday is Walk to School Day, a nationwide effort to encourage kids to walk to school and to be safe when they do. At Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST), representatives from the Albany Police Department Mounted Patrol, Albany Med’s Trauma Program, Albany County’s DPW Traffic Safety Education Program, AAA Hudson Valley, the state Department of Health and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee came out to share safety tips with students.

Later, students from pre-K to grade 3 enthusiastically showed off their new-found safe walking knowledge during a musical assembly led by Bill VanAlstyne from Albany County.
