Pancakes and pjs

Three first-grade girls eat pancakes while wearing their pajamas

Homemade butter and syrup tapped from maple trees outside their school were part of the fare at a Thanksgiving pancake breakfast that first-grade teachers hosted Tuesday for their students and their families at Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST).

Teachers Michelle Corlew, Sara Gonsiewski and Linda Serapilio threw the breakfast for their three classes with help from TOAST colleagues and volunteers, who cooked pancakes and served fruit, muffins and more. Science teacher Art Flynn had students make butter by vigorously shaking a container of heavy cream, and they got to taste the fresh butter along with maple syrup tapped from trees near the school.

It was all the more fun because Tuesday was pajama day at TOAST, so just about everyone was wearing their PJs. That’s a lot to be thankful for!
