TOAST after-school programs cancelled Thursday due to city construction

Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science and Technology is canceling all after-school programs and activities Thursday due to the city's construction work related to the Beaver Creek Clean Water project in Lincoln Park.

The city is planning a controlled blast at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday. This work is being done by a professional firm and the city assures us that all safety precautions and safeguards will be in place.

However, due to the nature of this first controlled blast for the Beaver Creek project near our school, we are taking the additional precautionary step at TOAST to cancel all after-school programs so that students are not in the building when the blast occurs.

Program cancellations Thursday include both the Fourth Family and Boys’ and Girls’ Club after-school programs.

We apologize for this inconvenience. We are working with the city to ensure that we can provide information about future blasting related to the Beaver Creek project with more advance time.
