City building new walkway behind TOAST

Walkway construction this week

The City of Albany informed the City School District of Albany over the weekend that it is beginning work today – Tuesday – on a new walkway for students behind the school.

The walkway will lead from the back of school to the Sunshine road, where students in grades 1-5 get dropped off and picked up each day. Parents and guardians, please let your children know to walk around the construction area this week.

Today's work will be completed by 2:30 p.m. and will not interfere with the Walk, Talk and Chalk event scheduled for 3-4 p.m. All work for the rest of the week will be done between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. so it does not interfere with students being dropped off or picked up.

The new walkway is scheduled to be ready for the start of school next Monday, Sept. 13.

We apologize for any inconvenience the city's construction may cause, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation during this important safety upgrade for our students.
