Four apply for vacant board seat

Four community members have expressed an interest in being considered for the vacant position on the City School District of Albany Board of Education.

The board currently is operating with six members, one short of its full membership, following Kenneth M. Bruce's resignation in May. Bruce is among those who are interested in filling the vacancy. The candidates will make brief presentations to the board at its Aug. 17 and Aug. 31 meetings. Follow these links to read a letter of interest and resume from each candidate.

The seat will run through June 30, 2018.

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and prepare all students for college and career, citizenship and life, in partnership with our diverse community. The district serves nearly 9,700 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
