A Day in the Life: Kristen Bruce’s pre-K/K

Student working with their teaching on an assignment

Visit our district Facebook page to take a look at a typical day of learning in Kristen Bruce’s pre-K and kindergarten class here at Montessori.

Students were engaged in their “shelf work” on Friday morning, moving between subjects while learning about holidays around the world. Shelf work is a hallmark of the Montessori method that allows students to work independently under the guidance of a teacher – Bruce and teaching assistant Barbara Carangelo, in this case.

The class then concluded its unit on hibernation with a group reading of Michelle Meadows’ Hibernation Station, joined by stuffed animal friends housed in dens they had constructed earlier in the week.
