Albany High honors students in College-based Transition Opportunity Program

Principal Jodi Commerford with Musa, Richardson and Quintyne

Albany High School celebrated three exceptional students from its special education program earlier this month who completed the College-based Transition Opportunity Program.

During a June 16 ceremony attended by administrators, teachers, peers and loved ones, Murana Musa, Rayshawn Quintyne and Angelo Richardson were honored for their dedication and accomplishments in this unique program, made possible through a partnership between the City School District of Albany and Russell Sage College.

The College-based Transition Opportunity Program gives young adults with disabilities the opportuity to participate in a college experience while they continue to receive support from their school district on their Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).

Musa, Quintyne and Richardson enjoyed their time on the Sage campus, developing vital work and social skills through various activities. They also maintained strong ties to the Albany High community by participating in unified sports and ensuring that the Falcon Food Pantry, Falcon Boutique and School Store were consistenly well-stocked, organized and clean for students and families.

We wish Musa, Quintyne and Richardson all the best in this next chapter of their lives and are grateful for their wonderful contributions to our school community over the years!
