Falcons hit the virtual road

Student seated and driving in the CDL simulator

Have you ever seen someone driving a commercial vehicle and thought, "I can't imagine driving something that big down the highway"?

Thanks to the Teamsters Local 294, our Albany High students in Vincent Kemp's Automotive II and Automotive III classes had the opportunity to try out a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training simulator during class this past week.

Students took turns hopping in the seat, buckling up and experiencing what it would be like to navigate a commercial vehicle while safely stationed in the Albany High parking lot. Everyone had a blast "hitting the road" virtually while practicing steering, acceleration, merging and more!

In addition to trying out the simulator, our Falcons learned valuable information about career opportunities in transportation and how to obtain a CDL license.

Not only was this hands-on experience a dynamic educational experience, it also exposed our students to employment pathways they can explore after graduation.
